15.4 FLY IN (FIN)
15.4.1 Competitors will find their own launch areas and attempt to achieve a mark close to a set goal or target.
15.4.2 Task data:
a. position of set goal/target
15.4.3 The result is the distance from the mark to the target, if displayed, or goal. Smallest result is best.
15.4.4 Only one scoring attempt (marker drop) may be made.
This is another situation where if you understand the Judge Declared Goal, you are 95% of the way to understanding the Fly In. The differences are largely trivial in execution. First, rule 15.4.1 says that the competitors must launch from their own areas. This rules out a Fly In when a common launch area is utilized. Also, only one marker drop is permitted at this task. This rule is rarely used, as most Judge Declared Goals also only allow one marker drop. Other than those, this task is identical to the JDG in writing.
Culturally, this task is used as the first JDG in a task string.
Task data:
position of set goal/target
The location of the target to be flown to, represented as a 4/4 coordinate as outlined in the Coordinates section
